The Rotary Club of Sandbach, working with Petty Pool Outdoor Centre, Northwich, recently provided a group of students from Macau with a two-week “unforgettable experience”.

This is the fourth year that students from St Paul’s School have made this visit, initially set up in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Macau by PDG Eric Cowcill who continues to organise the visit.

The 10 students and 2 teachers began their visit with a stay in London – with tours of the London sights - and trips to Stonehenge and Bath.

They were accommodated for the greater part of their stay at Petty Pool and as well as taking part in plenty of outdoor pursuits they had time for visits to Liverpool, Media City Salford, Blackpool, and Tatton Park.

For the middle weekend the students were home-hosted by Rotarians and friends in Sandbach, visiting local places but also coming together for a group meal at a local hostelry on the Saturday evening and a barbecue on the Sunday lunchtime.

The group spent the Wednesday of the second week with the Rotary Club of Sandbach. Outdoor bowls had to called-off because of the rain but the group enjoyed a history tour of Sandbach led by John Higgins and Eric Cowcill.

Following lunch with members of the Rotary Club at the Market Tavern, two of the students gave a presentation on their stay and said it had been for all the students “an unforgettable experience.”
