A DAD-of-one has cycled 1,003 miles from Lands End to John O' Groats to raise money as a Friend of The Rotary Club of Leigh, in aid of True Colours, who provide support for children and adults with autism, learning disabilities and mental health issues from Leigh and District.
Phil, 45, said: "It was pretty tough and I faced a heat-wave over 36 degrees, torrential rain and lots of midges, but came through unscathed and with no punctures. Phil paid all his own expenses and was supported on his journey by his wife and 7 year-old daughter, who stayed with him at camp sites and B&Bs.
Phil stopped off at the headquarters of charity True Colours CIC in Leigh half-way through his trek, which raised over £1500. He decided to support the Rotary Club of Leigh as he has always been aware of their efforts to help the community. He said, "The Rotary Club do a lot of really good work to support a lot of charities and I am glad to help them whenever I can."
