Irlam Rotary Club has again this year expanded their Irlam In Bloom scheme. With the help of a grant of £9,400 from the National Lottery fund they have installed ten new seven tier planters along Liverpool Road in Irlam and Cadishead.
Work was carried out on a wet Tuesday morning recently by Club members, with the help of the inner wheel Club members Marjorie Fillery and Mille Beck and Robin Fletcher from Helping Hands.
The original three tier planters these replaced are being installed in all the local Primary schools; they will be planted out and maintained by the pupils and school staff.
The Rotary Club have also joined forces with the Disability Group from Princes Park Garden Centre in constructing and planting out two new flower beds in front of Fit City Swimming Baths. Every one of the Group, lent a hand on the day and its something for everyone to be proud of.
The ten new seven tier planters contain a mixture of Bizzy Lizzys, new Smokey Eye Geraniums and non-stop Begonias with around 80 plants (800 in total) in each of the new planters.
The three tier planters that have been re-located to schools around the District also contain around 80 plants each making a total of around 1,800 plants in the planters alone.
Add to that around 150 floral hanging baskets, 118 lamp-post planters, 40 trough planters and the large main road tub planters (Pictured being planted out a Sunday morning by Rotary members and volunteers), then you can see what a Bloomin Marvellous Job the Rotary Club of Irlam have been doing to brighten up the District. Well done to Peter Fillery and Alan Cavanagh and all those involved including Paul Dixon, North Cheshire Developments and Irlam Rotary Club Members.
