At the end of each School year for around the past nine years, Rotary Club of Irlam members were out and about in their local Primary Schools attending end of year presentations and assemblies to present a pen drive (USB memory stick) to each and every school leaver, as they move on up to High School.
President of the Rotary Club of Irlam David Fairclough who included a short message for each student in the pen drives presentation box said, We have been doing the pen drives now for a number of years and before that we did the dictionaries for four years. This year we sent out more than 300 drives to the eight Primary Schools in Irlam and Cadishead and St. Helens in Hollins Green.
I think it great that at the end of the school year the primary school leavers in our area have all received a gift from Rotary. I think this is important to highlight the name of Rotary and I am sure the children appreciate all that Rotary puts back into the Community including the Annual Christmas Float and In Bloom Project that is much anticipated in the District.
Thank you to our Rotarians Jane Williams, Debbie Kemp, Gill McLaughlin, Peter Blay, Joe Murchan, Bernard Daniels, Jim Parker and Bill McLaughlin for helping to present the pen drives into our local schools.
