Recently eight local community groups met with members of Wigan Rotary Club on Wednesday night to pitch for up to £1,000 each. Groups ranged from a Lipreading group, Bispham Church, a couple of residents groups, the Girls and Lads Brigade and a Toddler Group and Nursery
In announcing that all groups had been successful in their bids, President John Wright commented that the one common factor amongst all the applicants was the sheer unbridled enthusiasm shown by those who pitched for their share of the money. He wished all of the teams continued success.
He continued however this event would not be possible without the generous donations of the Wigan residents mainly last December when we accompanied Santa and his sleigh around the area. We hope this event shows Wigan Rotary is using their donations wisely and for the benefit of the local community.
He thanked the Judges for their participation with what was not an easy task due to the number of applications received and the variety of activities and needs represented.
