As part of the ‘Keep Britain Tidy’ Campagne, Biddulph Rotary member, Graeme Court, undertook to organise and run the ‘Great Biddulph Litter Pick’ on Saturday, 30th March.

In addition to other members of Biddulph Rotary, Graeme recruited volunteer helpers from several other organisations, and these and many other individual volunteers were divided into teams each led by a rotarian and allocated to specific areas of the Town.

On Friday over 20 students and teachers from Biddulph High School, cleared the streets around Knypersley of fifteen large bags of waste. The following day, about 50 people, including 20 students fromWoodhouse Academy, cleared another 60 large bags of waste from various parts of Biddulph, including Craigside, Wharf Road, Biddulph Valley way, Biddulph Grange Country Park and Visitor Centre, Biddulph Valley Park, Congleton Road and the area around Marsh Green Road and the Water Treatment Works.

Rtn Graeme Court, expressed his grateful thanks for the amazing turn out of volunteers, which included so many young people. He hopes those youngsters will spread the word amongst their peer groups, that dropping litter is bad for the look of the town as well as damaging its wildlife and the environment.
