Runcorn Rotary held a special evening at Hotel Campanile to thank young volunteers from 4 groups who assisted with the 4 days of collections made at Asda and Trident Park in December. The float also visited Halton Village Millennium Green and was used on Sandymoor by the Community.
President Tony Rudder welcomed all the helpers and group leaders and said We could not have achieved the great results without their time, commitment and enthusiasm. The volunteers were drawn from Mersey Weaver Scouts, Halton Guiding, Mayors Award and Halton Youth Parliament.
At the Awards evening each group received a donation to assist towards their projects. This included 3 participants from Mersey Weaver Scouts going to West Virginia, America for World Scout Jamboree July 2019 Ella, Brendan and Ollie; Alyse Cheeseman has been selected for Guide International Camp in Finland; all having to contribute towards the contingent fund raising from Cheshire. Leaders Michelle Pickstock and Matt Marnell of Mersey Weaver Scouts, Janet Brown and Millie Allen from Guiding UK were all present and thanked for their input.
Ken Tonge PHF as Youth Chairman for Runcorn Rotary then introduced the young people from Halton Mayors Award Megan Richardson, Jasmine Daniels and Amber Johnson with Team Leader Barry Selby. They were followed by Youth Cabinet members Holly Caldwell, Ewan Jago and Matthew Maloney with Team Leader Phil McClure.
Scarlett Fletcher, aged 12 had previously been sponsored by Runcorn Rotary to participate in the Double Mini Trampoline World Championships in St Petersburg where she retained her title with Gold medal, Scarlett showed a montage of her performances and spoke and answered questions on her achievements. She trains with City of Liverpool Gymnastics and at Lillishall with GB team and is also Halton Sports Partnerships Young Sports Personality 2017 and 2018
