On Saturday 17th November, Christmas came to Eccles with the lighting of the Shopping Centre and the celebration of the Christmas Tree.
Once again Rotary Eccles opened up its grotto where Santa handed out over 100 wrapped children's books to the excited children lining the precinct whilst Rotarians dispensed mulled fruit juice and mince pies.
This year, the event in bright sunshine, was enriched by the music from Fianna Phadraig Pipe Band which marched through the town to collect Santa and the players from Barton Theatre Company who led the countdown to the grotto opening.
The Rotary Grotto, which is free for all children, will be open each Saturday until Christmas.
