Over 120 pupils entered the Rotary Young Chef National Competition this year at Woodhey High School, again a record for the number of young entrants entering the competition and after five heats and one grand final cook off two young people are going through to the semi finals of the competition at District level.
Claire Gallie, Head of Food at the school said there is always an enormous interest in food and competitions at the school. Claire said the Young Chef competition does create a buzz around the school it creates a lot of work for everyone involved but is very worthwhile.
Keith Crane, our Rotary man who manages all the administration, says standards are as high as ever and it is a credit to the school. The Rotary judge Trevor Hoyle ably assisted by local chefs Dennis Worthington & Glen Duckett, had the enviable task of tasting all the dishes who agreed the skills ,variety and abilitys of the young entrants was amazing.
The two winners to going through to the next level are, Amelia Tweddle and Harrison Humby both year 10 Food Preparation and Nutrition pupils.
