The community team at Rotary Club of Sandbach has been busy over the summer.
In May, along with members of Sandbach Interact Club, they joined the Sandbach Clean Team for a morning of litter-picking. Finding the town centre virtually litter-free they decided to concentrate on the verges alongside the roads leading into the town.
In June they tackled over 20 huge lime tress in the churchyard at St Mary's. It has been an annual task to remove the suckers from the base of the trees which overhang the pavement in the High Street.
Picking a Sunday evening - one of the quieter times in the town - the team has recently started to paint the lower sections of street lights, road signs and litter bins which had become rusty. (Causing a lot of confusion to the local dog population.)
Community Services chairman, Bill Whittaker, said, "It is most gratifying to hear the positive comments of passers-by and to be provided with drinks by local cafes and hostelries - coffee, of course!
