Members of Sandbach Interact Club recently reported on a very successful year after completing a number of projects in the community and raising over £1000 for charity. The Sandbach Club, based at Sandbach High School & Sixth Form College, is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Sandbach.
The year culminated with the collection of hundreds of items of stationery for the charity Marys Meals. The items will be used to fill rucksacks with all the things needed by children to take to school in some of the worlds poorest regions.
Joint presidents of the Sandbach club, Jacqueline and Stella Vu, said that they chose the project because it would help less-advantaged children, not only with their education, but by ensuring that they had a meal every day by attending school. They also liked the idea of recycling and it was a project in which the whole school could participate.
Rotarian Adrian Ramsden, Community Ambassador, Marys Meals said, It was wonderful to behold a van collecting from the school 11 huge sacks of items bound for Marys Meals in Glasgow and then on to countries in Africa and other parts of the world.
