The Rotary Club of Hyde raise funds throughout the year, when they take their Christmas sleigh out or at the Gee Cross Fete funding raised is given back to the people in community.
Recently the club supported a young lady who requires medical treatment.
Rotarian Dr Vik Tanner PH takes up the story.
Shuhaney is a bright and bubbly young girl who lives in Dukinfield and studies at Hyde Community School.
Unfortunately she has Spastic Diplegia, which means she has stiff paralysed legs so she cannot stand or walk, and needs help for many daily activities.
She has been offered a new spinal Operation by surgeons in Pendlebury Hospital to relieve her leg spasticity. Then she will need Intensive Physiotherapy for many months to strengthen her muscles and improve her balance. The hope is that she will be able to walk again within a year.
The operation is not currently funded by the NHS. The Caudwell Childrens Charity has raised an Appeal for Shuhaney to Fund her operation and rehabilitation.
The Rotary Club of Hyde considered Shuhaneys case, and decided to support her with a cheque of £1,000.00 at a special meeting ( on 28th June) see photo.
