Young Chefs from Senior Schools around our District performed extremely well again this last year. Our District Final saw the RC Ramsbottom, RC Congleton and RC Newton le Willows schools take the top honours.
They all competed in the Regional Final, (which is actually a Semi-Final of the National Competition),with approximately 5000 initial entries . Our District Young Chefs were extremely successful, coming 2nd and 3rd, but unfortunately only the winner qualifies for the National Final.
This years entries are now invited. And it is going to be a real cracker, with the return of RC Frodsham and Helsby, and the equally formidable RC Cheadle & District, who like Congleton enter two schools. Which augers well for a Battle Royal between these clubs with their respective Young Chefs. Plus, there is always a new school bursting into contention, perhaps it will be your clubs entry?
YOUNG CHEF is a competition to encourage school children to learn healthy cooking. Well, teacher does thatbut youngsters love to enter our Rotary Competition . They cook more, and soon become very good indeed, guided our team of chef/judges from The Marriott Hotel. They even start thinking about a career in Catering. Rotary helps that vision. Clubs involved receive great satisfaction for their Service before Self. Especially as many entrants are maybe not academically brilliant, but find Rotary Young Chef, to be an ideal career guide.(a previous Young Chef parents comment).
So as our Rotary New Year begins, make sure your club have a good reason not to enter, as the smart vote is to join Young Chef fast! (Even the most frugal of Treasurers approve the cost).
You dont want to miss this years Competition.. its going to be a cracker !
