Sunday 20th May saw the sixth annual Heatons Open Gardens Day organised by the Rotary Club of Stockport Lamplighter
Over a thousand people visited the gardens ranging from the oldest allotment in Stockport, the station masters yard at the local train station, a local school for Special Needs pupils and a variety of different sized private gardens
The sun shone all day making it even more special.
Each garden was allowed to sell teas etc for their own charity and along with programme money over £3,000 was raised for good causes throughout the day. Although intended as a community event rather than a fund raiser this was a magnificent sum.
One party from Ireland even decided on their holiday date so that they could attend the event with others coming from as far afield as Bolton, York, Rochdale and Hebden Bridge.
