On Sunday, 20 May, Ian Trencher, an associate member of Wigan Rotary Club, completed the Windermere Marathon to raise Funds for the Club. Running in very hot weather, which caused many competitors to fall by the wayside, Ian completed the Run in a little over five hours - a tremendous achievement given the conditions. Through sponsorship a considerable amount of money has been raised to help to support the work the Club does. President Gwyneth Millard commented " This is one of the many areas in which younger members of our club can contribute more than our "established" members - for most of us our Marathon running days are over - if indeed they ever started! Well done Ian, we are proud and grateful to you".
