Sandbach young people made a splash for charity recently at the Rotary Club of Sandbach Swimathon. The club's 26th annual event was held at Sandbach School.
26 teams took part representing local Brownies, Guides, Scouts, Wheelock Primary School, Aquarius disability swimming club, Swim School, RotaKids Club, Sharks, Neptune Lifeguards and Sandbach Interact Club entered a team as did the Rotary Club themselves.
Club President, Richard Hovey, welcomed guests including MP Fiona Bruce, and the Mayors of Sandbach and Cheshire East, to see the swimmers in action.
Swimathon coordinator, Tim Bramwell, said it was a joy to see so many swimmers aged from 6 to 80 enjoying themselves, helping others and keeping fit. The Inner Wheel refreshment area was also popular with excellent home made cake!
Using a well-tested formula the funds raised by sponsorship will be divided between the teams for their own good causes and the Rotary Club which this year will be supporting St Luke's Hospice, Water Aid, and The British Heart Foundation.
