On Thursday 15th March Tyldesley with Atherton Rotary held their annual church service at Tyldesley St George's church to celebrate the amazing contribution from local schools to the Rotary Club of Tyldesley with Atherton shoebox appeal. A wonderful message of selflessness and care for others from our children along with some beautiful singing.
Children from Tyldesley St George's, Tyldesley County Primary and Garrett Hall Primary donated over 300 boxes to this year's appeal. The service included a celebration of the strong links that our club has with the local community and the extra special bond with our children. Our Rotarians of the future!
It included presentations of singing from the children and attendees along with the traditional bringing to the front of the church the shoe boxes by the children. A formal blessing was then given.
This is an event held every year in our local community and as popular as the traditional initiatives you might associate with the club e.g. Santa and his sleigh.
President David Balmer said 'The club is very proud of its links with the community and specifically the youth in the area. Strong links with local schools, local Scouting groups, sports groups and a healthy and active Rotakids section means we are cultivating future members of the Rotary family.
