District 1285 is one of the most active Rotary Districts in Britain, stretching across the Cheshire Plain north via the Manchester metropolis to Wigan, Bolton, Bury, Rochdale and the Yorkshire border, east almost to the Peak District National Park and south to the Staffordshire Moorlands. Within its boundaries there are 68 local clubs with a total membership of 1624 Rotarians.
At their meetings, they plan a wide range of charitable activities designed to not only support disadvantaged members of their own local community but, on a much broader field, providing aid to areas of the world where it is most needed.
This e-newsletter aims to reflect the wide variety of events taking place in District 1285 throughout the year. To make it as complete as possible, clubs (and district officers) are asked to keep the editor fully informed of what they are planning, especially those novel and imaginative ideas that show the uniqueness of Rotary in promoting fellowship among its members and helping to make the world a better place for all.
In the first instance, brief details should be emailed to editor@rotary1285.org together with any appropriate photographs. Please dont forget to include the name of the club, and a telephone number of the sender.
